Talking Newspaper

TN1                                  20150916_155217

Just 2 of our 4 teams of volunteer Talking Newspaper readers. The 4 Seasons and the Blackburn Lions.

The Talking Newspaper is recorded by a team of volunteers every week.  The recordings are then duplicated onto a USB and posted to you through the “Articles for the Blind” free postage service.  The Talking Newspaper is only available to people who have a vision loss or are blind. There is a £10 annual subscription that provides funding to maintain the equipment.

The USB fits can be used with radios, televisions, computers or laptops and other media devices.  The Talking Newspaper service can provide a basic player if this is requested at the time of joining and will also provide a demonstration of how to use it in your own home. While the player remains your property we would appreciate it’s return should you terminate your subscription.

There is an annual subscription of £10. Payment can be made by cheque or in person at the Society’s office. Please do not send cash through the post. Cheque’s payable to the Blackburn and District Blind Society. The Talking Newspaper is recorded every Wednesday and posted out the next day.

The Talking Newspaper will include a Talking Magazine provided free of charge and is included at least once a month.  The cost of postage both ways is free under the “Articles for the Blind” scheme operated by The Post Office.

Should you want to join the Talking Newspaper and Magazine, please contact us via this website or telephone 01254 698683 or email and we will post a joining form to you. When you complete the form post it back to us at –  Blackburn and District Blind Society, Suite 4 – Unit A, Cobham House, Shadsworth Gateway Estate, Haslingden Road, Blackburn, BB1 2EE.
